Hello everyone and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. 805 South has had a great year. Thank you very much to the fans that supported us. This is a recap of all that went down in 2008. Some of you were there and some were not. Good thing you got 2009!

---WHAT'S NEWS---

Web site up:
805South.com was launched.

Keeping you informed on all there is to know about us. We are 1st-5th rank on all the search engines under “blues Rock in LA”, big thanks to you for that.

Big shows of 2008:
Our last two shows of the year were big and loud
.
Rosie enjoyed herself at her Birthday Party at Rusty's Surf Ranch, it was a little bit nerve racking because right before we were scheduled to go on the whole Santa Monica Pier lights went out. They were out for 30mins, when they finally came on we jumped on stage and Rocked. Making Rosie’s birthday a smash!
We rocked The Cellar. Long Beach welcomed us with open arms. 805 South will be Live at The Cellar again in 2009!

Big Birthday bash in February.

We partied hard and played harder with Butter Face for Sev, Mo, Mike, Lisa Shea, and Mark Salata’s Birthdays. Sev and Mark Salata did double duty that night by also playing with Butter Face.

Other memorable shows:

HOB-Foundation Room, The Mint “A night of female soulful music” and all the shows at the Studio Suite R.I.P.

We found our bassist:
Finally, after what seemed like an endless searching and playing without a bass, we found Steve Hirsch. Or should I say, he found us? He has been a great addition to the band. Thanks for stepping up.

Members of the following:
Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society
We Hosted the BBQ Blues Jam on November 9th. We been invited to play their Battle of the Blues, we shall see.

Southern California Blues Society

We played in the Battle of the Blues for a chance to go to Memphis and compete in the 25th International Blues Challenge on Saturday November 15th at The Caller Long Beach. Didn’t win but gained fans and was invited back to play The Caller.

GoGirls Music

Rock with GoGirls - the oldest and largest online community of indie women musicians from ALL music genres! Made some contacts and gained knowledge about the music industry.

Music EP Released:
“Pay to Play” EP was released. At long last, our fans got 805 South music to take home.

New Venues and Closing of Studio Suite:
It was a sad day when Studio Suite closed for live music. We had a great fan base there. But we bounced back with Can Of Jam: The Mint, House of Blues Sunset, On the Rox, and The Derby. We rocked the Long Beach Crab Festival. We will continue to spread the love around.
We also headed out of town to San Diego for some fun with “Rhythm and the Method” at “The Stage”. Got a warm response there!

Write up in the PodBop Blog:
"Chicks With Licks"- from the PodBop Blog
Personally, I'm rooting for 805 South, who play the first set at 4 p.m. sharp. Think of them as the Riot Grrrls of the blues: Two ladies sharing lead vocal and songwriting duties, backed by classic instrumentalists on bass, drums, and lead guitar.

Each chanteuse has her own sound and style. Rhythm guitarist Lisa Shea proffers a smooth alto that some describe as "female Jimi Hendrix," though she carries a tune much better than that guitar god.
Candy Bailey, meanwhile, has a pretty-yet-edgy voice that reminds me of underground power-pop songstresses. Indeed, like Nina and Louise of Veruca Salt, Lisa and Candy are able to combine their different sounds and smoothly trade roles as frontwoman or backup singer.[MORE...] Don’t forget to add your comment.
